A Maine gun store has taken in a calf that was shunned by its mother in a bizarre animal adoption.
Adam Hendsbee, owner of A&G Shooting in Fairfield, Maine, told FOX 22 Bangor that he and his wife found the miniature zebu calf in the woods.
'Mom had rejected him, so he was shivering and cold and lying in some mud...' he said.
The store owner added that he and his wife brought the calf into their house, keeping him warm and alive.
Adam Hendsbee and his wife quickly took in a baby calf they found in the woods that was abandoned by its mother
Hendsbee, who owns A&G Shooting in Fairfield, told FOX 22 Bangor that the baby calf was cold, shivering, and laying in mud when he and his wife found him
The baby cow named Kade is now in Hendsbee's gun store frequently as the store owner continues to nurse him back to health.
According to Hendsbee, Kade will be 'a staple' at A&G Shooting for the next few months as long as he can 'fit him in the car.'
Kade has settled into the store environment and is now around to check products, snuggle with families, and gnaw on a tripod and Hendsbee's beard.
Employees at A&G Shooting have enjoyed having the little guy around ever since Hendsbee began bringing him to the store.
'He brings in a lot of smiling faces and a lot of kids gets the newer generation into stuff and makes the gun shop aspect a little warmer,' A&G Shooting employee Payton Atwood told FOX 22.
Customers also love Kade's presence, with one person referring to him as 'adorable.'
'It's weird seeing animals in shops and not on a farm. It was surprising because I happen to believe it, but it was really fun," said Annalise Lawson.'
Kade has become comfortable being around customers, and the calf even allows them to pat and take pictures with him.
Hendsbee has been nursing the cow who is now named Kade back to health and decided to start bringing him to his store
Kade is now a local celebrity and he enjoys hanging out in the store with all of the other employees and its customers. He also loves gnawing on Hendsbee's beard
