Ben & Jerry’s will be giving out free ice cream cones and cups to patrons today between 12:00 and 8:00 pm at participating locations worldwide.
‘Every time you enjoy a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s, you’re showing us how much you care,’ their website read.
‘We’re asking our fans to really bring it this year: invite their friends, family, and neighbors, and help us beat our goal of 1 million scoops on Free Cone Day 2024,’ said Ben & Jerry’s CEO Dave Stever.
Ben & Jerry’s customers can also enjoy their free ice cream cones and cups as many times as they’d like today - as long as they are willing to wait in line again each time they want another serving.

Ben & Jerry's goal is to serve more than one million scoops of ice cream today. They had done so already in 2015
Ben & Jerry’s has hosted an annual free cone day since 1979 at their first store in Burlington, Vermont.
Their ice cream shop in Saratoga Springs, New York did their first Free Cone Day in 1984 every US location in 1993 eventually joined in on the fun.
Ben & Jerry’s locations worldwide celebrated Free Cone Day together on April 18, 2000 and by 2010, their customers were able to see photos and tweets of their free ice creams through the scooper shop’s iPhone app.
Stever is asking Ben & Jerry’s fans to ‘really bring it this year’ and he encouraged them to invite their friends, family, and neighbors to help them beat their goal of over one million scoops of ice cream today.
Ben & Jerry’s has already released a few tips on how their customers should prepare to participate in Free Cone Day.
According to their April 15 Instagram post, customers should prepare to choose an ice cream flavor, leave their wallet at home, bring an activity, wear comfy shoes, and bring their appetite.

A woman that was featured on a video posted by Ben & Jerry's Instagram and TikTok gave a brief rundown on how to get free ice cream from the shop
A woman showed off a quick example of what to do in a video posted on TikTok and Instagram earlier today.
The line was not long at the Ben & Jerry’s shop she went to, likely because she arrived right at the beginning of the giveaway.
However, it’s important to remember that lines at the participating ice cream shops will possibly be long.
That’s why Ben & Jerry’s listed 10 ways to pass the time while someone is in line on free cone day.
These time-passing suggestions include talking to strangers, starting a sing-a-long, making phone calls, and high five a Ben & Jerry’s employee.
X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok users have not stopped writing joyful comments on their social media pages since the one-day special began at noon.
